| Its is a low molecular weight heparin (LMWH). It potentiates the inhibition of factor x and thrombin by antithrombin. It has relatively less effect on platelet adhesiveness.

Deep vein thrombosis and as preventive agent for clotting in extracorporeal system in heamodialysis. | | Contraindications : | Cerebral hemorrhage, ulcer in GIT., coagulation disorders, septic endocarditis, and surgical procedures of CNS, eye and ears. | | Safety Profile : | Thrombocytopenia, platelet dysfunction, uncontrolled hypertension, diabetic retinopathy, and pregnancy | | Adverse Effects : | Bleeding, sub-cutaneous haematoma and thrombocytopenia. | | Drug Interactions : | NSAIDs, Vitamin K antagonists may increase its activity. However, low dose aspirin may be continued unless some other contraindication is present. | | Dosage : | 120 IU/kg body weight by sub-cutaneous route. Maximum dose 10,000 IU/12 hrs.
