| Indication : | Nausea and vomiting induced by cytotoxic chemotherapy and radiotherapy. |
| Dosage :- | Parenteral |
| Adult :- | 10mcg/kg intravenously within 30 minutes before initiation of chemotherapy. This should be given only on the days of chemotherapy. |
| Children :- | 2-16 yrs of age : 10mcg/kg. |
| Oral :- | Adult, 2mg once daily (upto 1 hour before chemotherapy) or 1mg twice daily (first 1mg to be given upto one hour before chemotherapy and the second 1mg tablet to be given 12hrs. after the first dose). The drug is to be administered only on the days of chemotherapy. |
| Children :- | Not recommended. |
| Contraindications :- | Hypersensitivity. Children below 2 years. |
| Side Effects :- | Anxiety ,fever headache, asthenia, somnolence, dizziness, insomnia. Elevation of liver enzymes (AST & ALT). |
| Drug Interactions :- | Inducers or inhibitors of hepatic Cytochrome P450 - drug metabolizing enzymes: Granisetron does not induce the cytochrome P450 metabolising enzyme system. |
