| Composition : | 500mg | | Hydroxyprogesterone: | Its main function, like other Progesterone derivatives is preparation of uterus for nidation and maintenance of pregnancy. The latter is probably due to decreased uterine motility and inhibition of immunological rejection of the foetus : Progesterone decreases T-cell function and call mediated immunity. | | Indications: | Habitual & threatened abortion, infertility due to corpus luteum insufficiency, Primary & secondary ameenorrhoea, uterine hypopiasia. | | Dosage: | Habitual abortion :250-500 mg i.m. weekly. Threatened abortion :500 mg i.m. 2-3 times weekly. Infertillty :250 mg i.m. 3 days after rise in basal body temp. | | Contra–Indications: | History of herpes of pregnancy, previous or existing liver tumours. | | Special Precautions: | Diabetes. Exclude pregnancy in indications other then threatened or habitual abortion. Intra abdominal haemorrhage due to malignant liver tumours. | | Side Effects: | G.I. disturbances, weight gain oedema, acne, increased appetite, urticaria, allergic skin rashes, mental depression. | | Drug Interaction: | Potentiates CNS depression by alcohol, barbiturates, hypnotics, opioid analgesics, sedatives and neuroleptics, MAOLs attopine, and tricyclic antidepressants potentiate antimuscarinic effects.
