Mecobalamin plays an important role in transmethylation as a coenzyme in the synthesis of methionine from homocysteine. Mecobalamin is well transported to nerve call organelles, and promotes nucletic acid and protein synthesis. | | Indications: | Peripheral neuroparthy, diabetic neuropathy, alcoholic neuroparthy, druginduced neuropathy, dementia. | | Dosage: | 1,500mcg of Mecobalamin daily divided into three doses, for a period of minimum 2 month. The dosage may be adjusted depending on the patient’s age and symptoms. | | Side effects: | Gastrointestinal adverse drug reactions included anorexia, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
